Mock Trial (morning) event in Leeds (EVENT SOLD OUT)

Morley Town Hall, Queen Street, Morley, Leeds LS27 9DY

This mock trial is loosely based on a real corporate manslaughter prosecution following the death of an employee after a fall from height, The company was prosecuted for corporate manslaughter & three of its directors for gross negligence manslaughter.

This mock trial will be an innovative and engaging event held in a real Courtroom. Rather than merely telling you what the law says you must do, you will witness a practical example of a trial in action.  The event is being run by DAC Beachcroft in conjunction with the North & West Yorkshire Working Well Together Group.
The trial focuses on key issues such as risk assessment, health & safety management and individual oversights. It will demonstrate how individuals’ failings can be ‘totted up’ in order to mount a corporate manslaughter charge.
The trial follows the format of the ‘morning from hell’ mock trial and takes approx 3.5 hours to run.
At the end of the session, delegates will understand both the law on corporate manslaughter & their personal responsibility under Section 7 Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. They will understand how a number of apparent minor oversights by individuals can lead to (1) a tragic incident & (2) individuals becoming criminally liable.
The event also includes a detailed analysis of the new guidance on the sentencing of corporate manslaughter and health & safety offences.
Tickets are £50 per person, which includes breakfast sandwiches & refreshments on arrival.
To book a place/s follow the instructions in the attached flyer (to follow) or go straight to the Eventbrite booking page https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mock-trial-corporate-manslaughter-case-tickets-43606088986
